The Spirit of Christmas...I mean, Halloween

We all know the "holiday rules." Every year retailers haul out the holiday goods earlier and earlier, in an attempt to entice shoppers with their holiday magic and spend more of that magical money. And every year Halloween is overshadowed and Thanksgiving practically forgotten because of that holiday magic. But the holiday rules state that despite all of those things we, as consumers, must hold steadfast and remain true to Halloween and Thanksgiving, putting off all Christmas music, decorations, and shopping until the day after Thanksgiving.

So do the holiday rules apply to movies? At the risk of being attacked and my son being disowned by his grandpa, I'll admit that Kyle's been watching Christmas movies for weeks now. It started innocently enough. While searching through the TV cabinet for a good movie to watch, Kyle came across our Christmas movies. Or more importantly, his box set of "Frosty," "Rudolph" and "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" (which strangely enough, was given to him by the previously mentioned grandpa). Upon finding these movies, he came bounding down the hall, begging to watch "Frosty." Not having the heart to say no, let alone explain the Christmas rules to a 3-year-old, I said yes. And so, with 8 days until Halloween, 31 days until Thanksgiving, and 63 days until Christmas, the Turners have begun the holiday season. Ho, ho, ho...
